About
Augmented Processions explores the boundaries between immersive technology, street performance and artistic expression.
The first programme of work delves into the genius mind of Douglas Adams and his bit-player character The Electric Monk introduced to us in the novel Dirk Gently's Holistic Detectie Agency. The Electric Monk is a fictional, labor-saving device that was designed to believe things on behalf of its owner, saving people the effort of thinking and believing. Like a dishwasher washing dishes or a video recorder watching television, the Electric Monk performs a tedious task so its user doesn't have to. However, the Electric Monk in the story malfunctions, developing a fault that causes it to believe things at random, even things that are difficult to believe.
Augmented Processions is a Northern Irish company developing virtual reality music performance since 2020. We welcome collaborations for site specific performance and to create unique site specific performance.
